Nestled in the foothills between Sacramento and Placerville, El Dorado Hills is a family community of about 18,000. Its "town center" at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 has brought features of city without losing the rural feel of the residential areas.
The area includes a large master-planned community of 3,800 acres with 1,000 acres of open space, miles of nature trails, golf course and country club. Part of the community is the El Dorado Hills Business Park, which houses employers with more than 6,000 employees. Highway 50 is the main commute artery to nearby Folsom as well as Sacramento.
El Dorado Hills has many community parks with tennis, golf, swimming, baseball and more available. A relatively short drive takes residents to South Lake Tahoe for entertainment, including winter skiing. El Dorado Hills is served by the county of El Dorado as well as other local special districts.
