The Arden-Arcade community is located at the heart of Sacramento County and is marked by the convergence of several major freeways and thoroughfares. Arden-Arcade is a major contributor to the local economy and includes nearly 40 distinct neighborhood areas. As part of the original 44,000-acre Haggin land grant from Mexico given to John Sutter, Arden-Arcade is now one of the most heavily developed areas of urban Sacramento.
The Arden area is located along the historic American River, close to and east of downtown Sacramento and close to the large Arden Fair Mall.
The close proximity of the American River provides biking, walking, picnicking and fishing possibilities along the American River Parkway, a unique resource in the Sacramento area. The parkway stretches 23 miles from downtown Sacramento to Nimbus Dam. Arden is also dotted with many neighborhood parks.
Close by is California State University, Sacramento, with an excellent range of cultural activities, and the Pavilions Shopping Center, with upscale eateries and shops. Arden additionally is home to Town and Country Village, the first shopping center in Northern California.
A well-established community of about 96,000, it offers an ample selection of rental and private housing, including some of the finer homes in Sacramento.
Within the Arden-Arcade community, there are several neighborhood tracts, such as Sierra Oaks, Sierra Oaks Vista, Arden Park, Arden Oaks, etc.
